Training systems

Endurance develops through repeated, manageable exposures. The mature athlete benefits from structure that accounts for work, family, travel, climate, and changing recovery capacity.

Four elements to review

Frequency

How often can you practice without making every session feel consequential?

Intensity

Use conversational effort, breathing, and perceived exertion alongside numbers.

Volume

Progress total work gradually, especially after illness or a long interruption.

Strength

Include movements that develop force, control, and confidence through useful ranges.

A simple weekly lens

  1. Choose one anchor session that matters to you.
  2. Surround it with easy movement and ordinary life.
  3. Review how you responded before adding more.

These are planning prompts, not a prescription. Pain, unexplained breathlessness, fainting, or persistent fatigue should be discussed with a clinician.
